Discover the historical and cultural richness of Cusco’s South Valley, a less-traveled but equally fascinating route. This tour takes you through scenic Andean landscapes, colonial towns, and unique archaeological sites.

We begin with a visit to Tipón, an impressive Inca complex known for its advanced hydraulic system and beautiful agricultural terraces. Next, we head to Pikillaqta, a pre-Incan city built by the Wari culture, where you’ll learn about its history and planned architecture.

We continue to the towns of Oropesa, Huaro, and Andahuaylillas, home to beautiful colonial churches. The highlight of the tour is the Church of Andahuaylillas, often called the Sistine Chapel of the Americas for its stunning frescoes and Baroque religious art. Along the way, we’ll also pass by Huacarpay Lagoon, a natural sanctuary home to Andean birds and picturesque views.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Tipón – Pikillaqta – Andahuaylillas – Cusco

Hotel pick-up between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m.
We drive for about 40 minutes to the Tipón archaeological complex.
Guided tour and Q&A session at Tipón, followed by a visit to a local town where we’ll try the delicious traditional bread.
We continue to the Pikillaqta archaeological site.
We finish at the town of Andahuaylillas to visit the famous church, known as the “Sistine Chapel of Latin America.”
Return to Cusco between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m.
